Chiropractic care has a long proven history of being safe and effective for treatment of lower back pain and neck pain. Chiropractors also treat other musculoskeletal complaints such as pain in the joints of the arms or legs, headaches arising from the neck, and pains that radiate or are referred into the arms or legs. In many cases, a seemingly unrelated complaint can be traced back to the cause which has not yet been investigated. Do not be afraid to bring up any other concerns you may have to your chiropractor.

Chiropractors specialise in manual therapy known as "spinal manipulative therapy " (SMT), or chiropractic adjustments. These adjustments are very specific in nature and aim to improve and restore normal joint function. For those patients who do not like the noise or feeling of manual chiropractic adjustments, we can offer alternative treatments.

Our Chiropractor

Dr Heidi Knorr - BSc. MChiro. MSc (APP ) Chiro Paeds. FRCC, has been a chiropractor since 2000. She has worked in extensively in Australia and Scotland for many years as well as touring with a school rugby team touring Canada. A self confessed seminar junkie, she completed a postgraduate degree at AECC, England in 2013 to become a paediatric chiropractor which means she is equally at home looking after your tiny infants and growing children.

As a fan of movement and activity in general, you will find her swimming, pole dancing, roller-skating, skiing or flying through the air on a lyra (hoop) for fun! She enjoys studying the biomechanical patterns of movement of the spine and pelvis to help improve overall function. These movement patterns exist not only in adults and athletes, but also in the infant who is beginning to reach developmental milestones. She helps guide parents through the early years when children have aberrant movement patterns.

Dr Heidi seeks not only to identify the symptoms of a complaint, but locate the primary cause and prevent prevent pain and symptoms from reoccurring. For example , back pain might not even originate from the spine, but from an organ so as a result it may be necessary to refer the patient on to a medical professional.

Experience & Knowledge

With more than 20 years in practice, our chiropractor will spend time analysing your body for posture and aberrant movement patterns . She will then create a treatment plan specifically for your pain relief and rehabilitation.

At The Family Chiropractor, our aim is to educate the patient on how best to take care of themselves between visits, so that they get the best benefits from care in order to heal in a safe and timely manner.

We most commonly treat back pain and neck pain but are skilled in management of other neuromusculoskeletal conditions too.

When a paediatric chiropractor is doing treatment, all techniques and modalities are modified specifically to suit the age and complaint of the patient.
